Rollin' Down Backroads...

Usually when we have been hitting the road lately, we've been in a hurry. Not like a big hurry, but generally it is a long drive, and we want to make it where we are going, as quickly as possible.  But not this weekend. The Fourth of July is all about being thankful for this Beautiful Country that we live in, so we used our road trip up to West Tennessee as an opportunity to embrace the back roads and explore a little bit!  Instead of driving Interstate 55 the whole way to Brighton, we took Highway 51.

It's just two lanes for the most part, until you hit a "city."  I was so charmed by the adorable little towns we'd drive through.  So Stereotypical - four stop sign Courthouse squares surrounded first by beautiful Ante Bellum throw-back homes and secondly by sprawling farmland and ranchers.

One of my favorite towns we rolled through was Canton, Mississippi.  On Friday evening when we rolled through they were hosting a town movie night on the lawn of the courthouse - how quaint! Then today on our way back, we stopped to see the downtown square in the daylight and it was full of cute boutiques, florists, galleries and cafes!  I was also impressed with the towns of Magnolia, MS, Amite, LA and Jackson, MS!

I know we wont take 51 each time we go to Brighton, but it was a great break from the Interstate, to just let the top down on my convertible and cruise through the countryside!  I challenge you to do something unexpected and take an opportunity to Slow Down!
