This weekend wasn't just Memorial Day Weekend, a weekend for us to all celebrate our American Heros...in New Orleans it was a weekend to celebrate everything Greek!
Greece on the Bayou is New Orleans' Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral's Greek Fest. The Church's side yard stretching along the Bayou St. John and just across from City Park was the perfect place to host the Festival.
Zach and I did a Date night to attend the Festival, to "revisit" Greece, where we went on our Honeymoon!
It was no Greece, but we did have a great time! The food was marginal (Except for the Spanakopita and the Baklava Ice Cream Sundae - both of which were great!)...but then again the authentic stuff wasn't too great either. The wine was a little olive oily and the music was pretty pitchy, but all and all pretty true Greek!
Was it the best festival ever? No, but I'm a sucker for nostalgia...! Plus it was an absolutely beautiful evening and Zach and I had a great time eating, drinking and dancing our way back to our time in Greece!
