One of Zach's Fraternity Brothers, Paul, was in town for work on Thursday...so we got to go out on Thursday Night! Thursday nights are probably my favorite night out in New Orleans because of the standing gigs at some of the best music clubs in the city...I especially like going out on Thursdays during the summer because I don't have work on most Fridays!
We started the night off at one of my favorites, Bacchanal, in the Upper Ninth Ward. Admittedly, Bacchanal is not in the best area of New Orleans...and you drive through an even sketchier area to get to it, but I have never felt anything but safe while I was there...we did freak Paul out a little, but like everyone who we drag over to Bacchanal, they love its diamond in the rough feel!
We ate dinner at Bacchanal, Zach and Paul both had the Flat Iron Steak with Roasted Peppers and Frites, while I went with the Grilled Pork Chop with a Pickled Pepper Greek Salad...both were wonderful as usual!

It is officially Hurricane season in the Gulf and with that comes the rainy season...we ended up leaving Bacchanal a little earlier than expected due to the rain, and headed around the corner to Vaughan's to see Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers!

Not only did we get up close and personal with Kermit, but we also got to meet Andrew Zimmern the host of the Travel Channel show Bizarre Foods that was filming at Vaughans Thursday night! (Clearly he is currently filming a NOLA episode because via Twitter I saw that he was also at Willie Maes Scotch House, Parkway Bakery, and Dooky Chase) Zach and I have become self proclaimed Foodies, and Bizarre Foods is one of our favorite shows...combining our love of Food, Travel...and the Weird into one great show!
We hung out a Vaughans enjoying Kermit and his fun modern twist on traditional Jazz for a while until we made the decision to head into the Quarter for a few Hurricanes in the Piano Bar at Pat O's! All and All a great Thursday night in NOLA and we have continued our Star Sightings, (Current tally - Meredith Vieira, Ja Rule, Jeff Fisher, Bryan Batt, Kermit, and now Andrew Zimmern) in just two weeks!
