Mad Men!

It's the summer and all of our shows have ended for the year...while I anxiously await their return, Zach and I have started watching some new shows to add to our TV lineup!  Right now we are marathoning our way through AMC's Mad Men.

I knew it had gotten alot of hype over the past few years (currently there are 4 seasons...we just finished season 3) so I figured I should at least check it out.  Set in the 1960's at a New York Advertising agency, you not only get the feel of what it would have been like to have been a Top Ad Exec back in the day, but it is also a great look into the 60's Life, Pop Culture and Consumerism.  You see the way the characters deal with events like Marilyn Monroes death, Kennedy's Assassination, the Space Race and the building of the Vietnam War...it's historical, fascinating but also current and a little edgy, with wonderful cinematography.

Now that I'm full on obsessed with the show I've started researching some of the characters...Christina Hendricks, the sexy red headed secretary Joan is from my hometown Knoxville, TN! and Bryan Batt, Sterling Cooper's Art Director is from New Orleans! He graduated from Isadore Newman (as did the Mannings) and Tulane before getting involved in Theater...he also owns one of my favorite Magazine Street shops, Hazelnut!

Bryan Batt...Such a Cutie...I mean a little old for me but still..too bad all the good ones are Gay...

Sooo such a small world, that I would currently be at the Apex of my Mad Men obsession when...while happy houring with some girlfriends at Mike's on the Avenue Thursday night, Bryan Batt walks in the door with his partner (a local event planner) for dinner! They were sitting at the table right next to me! I could hardly contain myself! I thought about nerding out and going over to say something...but I couldn't, nor did I want to be "that girl" who ruined their night out.
