Our trip up North's purpose was to go to Ben's Wedding...the purpose of our detour to New York? To celebrate Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! We chose to celebrate in style by going all out and having dinner at the River Cafe!
The River Cafe is one of New York's most unique Special Occasion restaurants, on a boat nestled under the Brooklyn Bridge so that as you dine you can have some of the most spectacular views of Manhattan, the East River and the Bridges that span it.
Most weekends, especially this time of year, it is booked for wedding receptions, but lucky for us we were in NYC during the week and were able to get a reservation...and then upgraded to a window seat! The views were stunning even though it had been raining earlier in the evening.
The scenery wasn't the only thing that was amazing...the food was wonderful! Honestly probably one of the best meals I've ever eaten!
For our Appetizers Zach had the Wagyu Steak Tartare (mixed up tableside) while I had Yellow Fin Tuna Pinwheels stuffed with Foie Gras and wrapped in Italian Bacon topped with a Black Truffle Vinaigrette! The Pinwheels had incredible flavor, salty from the Bacon, fishy Tuna flavor and the buttery Foie Gras and this rich cream sauce...it was out of this world good!
For our entrees Zach had the Rack of Lamb I had Sea Bass with a Chorizo Sausage and Shrimp Stuffing on top of sauteed Zucchini!
It wouldn't be a great dinner if it didn't have a sweet ending...for Dessert I had the Apple Tart with a Calvados Glaze and Granny Smith Sorbet while Zach went with the Madeira wine tasting each paired with a mini chocolate.
And as we finished our bottle of wine, even after polishing off our desserts they brought us a sampling of their handmade candies...Pistachio Pralines, Macaroons and Truffles!
When by chance a Firework show started up river it was one of the most Magical Moments! What a perfect way to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary!
