Dueling Barges Fireworks!

Every year I go to West Tennessee for the 4th of July, and the Last two years (July 1st was the official 2nd Anniversary of our move!) since we moved to New Orleans have been no different. But this year since the 4th was on a Monday, my family elected to do our cooking on Saturday and our big Backyard Bar-B-Que on Sunday instead of actually on the 4th.  Well this allowed us the opportunity to actually be back in New Orleans on the 4th in time to head down to the French Quarter to enjoy the Dueling Barges Fireworks display on the River!

I really didn't know what to expect...except that this is New Orleans and we rarely do anything just halfway, but the Fireworks show was Amazing (and is apparently ranked the 5th best Fourth of July Fireworks show in the country)! We watched from the Aquarium/Woldenberg Park area and had a great view of the Fireworks being launched from the two barges in the Mississippi River in front of us.

They had a great variety of Color, and unique bursts, plus it was beautiful getting to see the reflections on the water!

I had thought that by the title "Dueling" Fireworks that would would have each barge "one-uping" one another until they ended in a huge grand finale, but instead you pretty much had the same display from each of the barges, which did allow for more people to collect along the riverfront to watch, but not as much variety as they could have had.

During the Grand Finale...actually quite beautiful, even though the picture looked like a War Zone!

Also from what I had read online there was supposed to be music to go along with the show, but from where we were, I never heard any.  Regardless, the show was Awesome and I hope I get the opportunity to see it again!
