La Crepe Nanou!

Friday night Laura and I had a Girls night out! After a bottle of wine at her place we headed over to La Crepe Nanou!

I've walked by it a dozen times, the Glossy Red Cafe at the corner of Prytania and Robert Streets, just across the road from two of my favorite NOLA spots: St. James Cheese Company and Creole Creamery.  Usually when we're passing it we are 3 miles into a walk...no exactly the time when you want to stop in for a heavy dinner!

Laura had the Crepe a La Crabe - filled with lump crab meat in a moray sauce and topped with creamed spinach - that was great! In addition to a wide selection of Entree Crepes, La Crepe Nanou had a good offering of traditional French Dishes as well (Veal Scallopini, Seafood Au Gratin, Filet with Bearnaise).  I went with the Moules et Frites.  My mussels were in a fantastic garlicky cream sauce (a little thinner than I am used to on Moules, but still really good!) that we both ended up soaking up with french bread.

After our entrees were so good...we clearly had to order dessert too! We Split the Crepe Lucie - stuffed with Chocolate Sauce and Strawberries and topped with Vanilla Ice Cream, that was also fantastic!

La Crepe Nanou was a much more high end restaurant that it looks from the outside, but is actually pretty economical! After every ounce of food and sauce was soaked up we headed over to Kingpin for a few cocktails before going to Tipitinas for Free Foundation Fridays to see Good Enough for Good Times!
