Before we went to the Beach we kicked things off right by celebrating my Birthday NOLA style!
We Started with Lunch at Commanders Palace...a LONG Lunch (I took the day off...I clearly wasn't going to work on my Birthday...)!
Zach and Kate had the Cochon de Lait braised in Abita. Mere and I Both had the Seafood Cakes...a fun twist on a traditional Crab Cake but with Red Fish and Shrimp too!
Laura had the Chicken 3 ways...I'm not exactly sure what the three ways were...Fried? Grilled? and something in an Eggroll? Regardless, it too was fantastic!
And after our Lunch we each had the Bread Pudding Souffle...light, airy, covered in a Whiskey Cream Sauce...Perfect! When mine came out they also had the whole upstairs sing Happy Birthday to me...Commanders isn't exactly the kind of place where singing happens...it might have been the Martinis...
But the Bread Pudding was not the best part of the meal...our 25¢ Martinis were! According to the menu there is some 3 drink maximum...but when you're the Birthday Girl they tend to make exceptions! To be honest every time I've been to Lunch with a crew of cute girls they never seem to mind!
After 6 or so rounds of Martinis we were definitely feeling good. And after a quick nap and a costume change we were off to the Quarter for Drag Queen Dingo at OZ!
Oh...I'm not kidding, Zach however did opt out on this part of the Day's Festivities...We had a fantastic time - Cute Guys (who cares they weren't interested!), Strong Drinks, Lots of Laughs, a Sense of Competition, and Great Music!
A Lucky Dog as a snack and a short walk down Bourbon and we found ourselves at Pat O'Briens...it has some sort of hold over me, a magnetism if you will that draws me in and wont let me go...Or it does, but only after its erased my inhibitions and my memories...so that's about where the story ends...We did make it to the Piano bar were I found out that Alvin (the guy who comes out and clicks on the silver tip tray with thimbles...if you've been to the Piano Bar you know who I'm talking about) and I have the same Birthday! Not just a coincidence!
I may not know how the story of the night ends, but I had a great time ringing in my 25th year with some of my Bestfriends...it was a great indication that I have many more years of fun to come! My hangover the next morning however a clear indication that I'm getting old...very old.
