Fat Hen Grocery!

When we got back from the Beach on Saturday, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the Grocery and cook dinner, so instead we decided to try the new Cafe, Fat Hen Grocery, across the street from our Apartment that opened while we were away!

Fat Hen Grill opens! So much more Curb appeal that its predecessors.

This has been a cursed location, in the two years we've lived here this is the third restaurant to go in, the former have all failed, and fast.  When we moved in the building was vacant, but within 6 months Cabana Grill had opened and closed within 3 months.  This Caribbean inspired cafe had really good food, but was pretty pricey...Lunch with no alcohol ran about $40 for us. After sitting vacant for another 6 or 8 months Moroccan Cafe opened just before Christmas.
They've done a great job re-doing the inside with quirky cutcherie murals.

From the Looks of it Moroccan Cafe was pretty successful.  I wasn't crazy about the food, but they seemed to have a consistent Lunch and Dinner Crowd. They had a quite a bit of competition from the nearby and similarly themed Babylon Cafe and Lebanon's Cafe, but that type of food tends to do well around college campuses.  In March they put up a sign "Closed for Mardi Gras be Back in Two Weeks"...they never re-opened.
They also do Catering, and Sell Meat and Cheese by the Pound!

So when I noticed activity brewing across the street in the space, I was immediately eager to see what would be going in next...And then right after the 4th of July they unveiled the secret, Fat Hen Grill would be opening a Riverbend Location!
Mmmm, Reuben with Potato Salad - fantastic, it was more like a Deviled Egg Salad!

Fat Hen's original location is just down the road from my office, and is a regular Lunch spot for me and my co-workers.  They had great sandwiches (the Reuben is my regular) and entrees, but also serve breakfast all day!

I'm really excited about Fat Hen moving in across the street, the food was just as great as the original, and since they already have an established client base I hope that it will have the support it needs to really catch on! Plus having breakfast that close will be super convenient...I'm seeing alot more Brunch in my future!
